The Galveston Bay Foundation, a local nonprofit committed to preserving, protecting and enhancing the coastline’s natural resources, prepares for its major spring volunteer event, Trash Bash.
The event brings hundreds of volunteers to the Texas shores, where they collect thousands of pounds of trash. Since 1994, 109,421 volunteers have collected 2,274 tons of trash, 17.25 tons of recycling and 11,065 tires.
This year’s Trash Bash will be a half-day affair and volunteers can select the individual cleanup site that is most accessible for their group.
