The Houston Zoo reopened earlier this month with modified one-way paths, limited occupancy and revised staff guidelines in place to keep everyone safe, including the animals.
Some areas remain closed for now (carousel and playgrounds, for two), but there’s still much fun to be had at the zoo. Outdoor habitats are open and you’ll find the sea lions, rhinos, anteaters, tigers and gorillas (along with many others) have all missed you terribly. If you’re lucky, baby elephant Nelson just might make an appearance too.
The new gift shop is also open, featuring a collection of Texas swag and zoo-themed facemasks.
