Flu season is normally met with a shrug, mild acceptance and a constant reminder to get your shot. This year, as another respiratory illness, COVID-19, continues to spread across the U.S., it is taking on a greater urgency.
The CDC recommends getting the flu vaccine in September or October, though it’s available throughout the season. Many ignore the vaccine, but it’s important to reduce the flu’s spread in 2020 because of its similarities to the coronavirus.
The additional virus could create an even larger public health crisis this fall — or our social distancing efforts may reduce the flu’s spread.
