Classic transmogrification

A work by artist Deasa Turner

Looking to do something tonight? Deasa Turner, daughter of legendary real estate icon Martha Turner, will present her artworks in the “Enchanted Scenes & Assemblage Themes” exhibition at Mirabeau Gallery.

Working through mediums of collage and assemblage, Deasa Turner specializes in a particular art form called transmogrification in which she dramatically transforms, alters or destroys an object and then reconstructs it into a transcendent, altered state. Whether a repurposed burned violin or children’s toys, her works fluster and prod the viewer to question and wonder.

Mirabeau Gallery is located at 4116 Center St., Houston, Texas, 77007. Exhibition open through March 17.
