This year has been a big one for Houston chef Jonny Rhodes. Earlier this year, Food & Wine included his soul restaurant Indigo on its “Best New Restaurants 2019” list, which included 10 restaurants throughout the country.
Indigo offers more than food. Twice nightly, Rhodes presents a series of carefully selected courses to diners at his 13-seat establishment. He presents each one with context on African-American history, never shying away from difficult topics.
On the heels of his national accolades, Rhodes plans to open a second Houston restaurant. Location details remain undetermined, but the restaurant should open in 2020.
