Building bicycles and futures: CYCLE awards 6,000 bikes to hardworking students

Christmas came early to over 6,000 second-graders in the Greater Houston area who received bikes from CYCLE for accomplishing their academic goals. This year, 1,500 volunteers participated in the world’s largest bicycle build and giveaway hosted by CYCLE at NRG Center.

Throughout the week, volunteers built 6,000 bikes that were then delivered on Saturday, Dec. 8 to 57 elementary schools in nine different school districts. Excited students arrived at the schools to pick out bikes and get fitted for their helmets. With smiling faces, students learned the valuable life lesson that hard work equals reward.
