How one team is working to get fresh food on the table in Sunnyside

by The 100 Companies

When Ivy Walls, the owner of Ivy Leaf Farms, and Jeremy Peaches, the owner of Fresh Life Organic Produce Co. and Agricultural Consulting Firm, found a study showing that lettuce purchased in low-income or high-income areas had a massive disparity in levels of gastrointestinal bacteria, they knew a change needed to be made. The two set out to create a grocery store in the historically Black Sunnyside neighborhood, which has long been a food desert.

Since its launch in 2022, Fresh Houwse Grocery is already making great strides in providing fresh foods to those who could previously not get them.
