Last month Visit Houston hosted its fifth annual Houston Tourism Summit, which highlighted the Bayou City as “The Next Frontier.” In 2018, Houston welcomed 22.3 million visitors who generated $80 billion in travel revenue and $1.2 billion in tax revenue.

Preparing to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the historic 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing this summer, Visit Houston shared the economic and social impact of large-scale events on the travel industry. The featured case studies offered up insights into the growing Mexico travel market, behaviors of millennial and Gen Z travelers, and the growth of cultural tourism.
