The Houston Batman still baffles the city over 70 years later

On June 18, 1953, three neighbors saw something they couldn’t explain. They reported their encounter to the Houston Chronicle, which made the story front-page news.

While sitting on a front porch, the three noticed a large shadow moving across the lawn. They were met with a manlike figure standing over six feet tall with bat-like wings attached to his back, encased in a halo of glowing light.

The figure stood, watching them before the light began to fade. It then vanished, but the onlookers heard a swoosh and then saw the light rise from a nearby tree and take off.
