Last April, the Houston Zoo announced its “Keeping Our World Wild” centennial fundraising campaign, which is bringing several multi-species habitats to the zoo by 2022. The first major construction project of the campaign, the Katherine G. McGovern Texas Wetlands, opens May 24, just in time for Memorial Day.
The exhibit invites guests to stroll along a boardwalk and obtain close-up views of animals that were saved from extinction. Native Texas species in the exhibit include whooping cranes, bald eagles and American alligators.
Remember that funds raised from admission to the zoo help support Texas animals in the wild.
