Do you know of the time when the Astros had a game in the Astrodome rained out, despite no water touching the field?
On June 15, 1976, a massive storm hit the area, sending more than seven inches of rain to downtown Houston and even more to some parts around town. A lot of the area around town flooded, including the entryways to the Astrodome.
While both the Astros and their opponent, the Pittsburgh Pirates, were already in the Astrodome, the umpires, fans and many stadium workers weren’t, so the game was postponed. The makeup game was played in July.
