COVID-19 left millions of Americans furloughed or jobless, and internship programs have been affected, too.
For graduating students looking to break into their chosen industries, this can be detrimental as internships often allow opportunities to become familiar with the workforce, and many employers use these programs as part of full-time recruiting processes.
Some internship programs have been dissolved, while others got creative by reducing the number of interns, postponing start dates, or becoming virtual. When seeking an internship, look for companies that have continued hiring, network like crazy, and focus on remote opportunities less likely to hit a pandemic roadblock.
