Gulf partnership offers hope for native Texas turtles

by The 100 Companies

The Gulf of Mexico Alliance is pleased to announce its partnership with CITGO as the most recent organization to join the Alliance’s Gulf Star Program. Their funding supports work in Galveston Bay, Texas to improve conservation for diamondback terrapins. Populations of these medium-sized turtles have been in decline in recent years.

The Gulf Star Program is a public-private partnership leveraging contributions from agencies and businesses to fund projects focused on healthy habitats, wildlife, fisheries and resilient coastal communities.

“Our success is built on collaboration and we are excited to welcome CITGO,” said Laura Bowie, Gulf of Mexico Alliance executive director.
