Pandemics don’t take spring breaks

The US began to experience initial effects of COVID-19 just about the same time that many collegians were making vacation plans for spring break. Although warned not to travel by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, most students took their trips and inevitably assisted in spreading the virus.

With coronavirus travel restrictions still pending, the tourism industry continues to take a hit. The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) reported international arrivals fell 74 percent over the last year.
