The Menil Drawing Institute officially opened its doors as the fifth building to join The Menil Collection. The Menil Drawing Institute, established in 2008 to further the study of modern and contemporary drawings, has organized several traveling exhibitions over the years.
Recently, Los Angeles-based architecture firm Johnston Marklee was selected to create a new, freestanding structure dedicated to the conservation, exhibition, acquisition and storage of these artworks. The inaugural exhibition, “The Conditions of Being Here: Drawings by Jasper Johns,” is on view through Jan. 27, 2019, and features 41 drawings.
Admission to the Menil is always free. Click here to learn more.
