The origin of the Alaska vs. Texas feud is the same thing that keeps the friendly feud alive today — Alaska took the No. 1 spot away from Texas as the largest state in the U.S.
The height of the feud lasted from 1958-1959 and it can be seen in music, postcards, and even a book with compliments and insults for both sides.
Postcards evolved into memes and the friendly feud lives on. In the end Texas was already established for its size and its reputation remains largely in tact while Alaska continues on as the largest state — everyone wins!
