Why every car owner needs a ‘Faraday Box’

by The 100 Companies

My buddy couldn’t believe it – his key fobs were inside the house, yet both his Porsche Cayman and his wife’s Kia Telluride were gone.

Police think both cars were stolen using a rising form of auto theft called a relay attack. Criminals park outside your house, use a handheld antenna to amplify your key’s radio signal, copy it, then simply drive off.

Ninety-six percent of motorists are vulnerable to relay attacks, but thankfully, they’re easily foiled. A $16 Faraday box blocks all outgoing signals, making relay attacks impossible. If my keys aren’t in my pocket, they’re in my Faraday box.
