Americans have been divided for much of our history. (See the election of 1800.) Today, with social media and tribal cable channels, it might appear a bit more acute.
And now, with the national pandemic crisis, we’re all in the same boat, united against a common enemy. Or maybe not. David Brooks recently reported on the history of pandemics and how they don’t bring out the best in us. Let’s hope this time is different.
