Kindergarten and first graders at Ecole Pointe-Au-Chien, a French immersion school in Montegut, are spending the next year planning a new garden space that connects them to their community’s local culture and heritage.
Students will learn about culturally important plants, their names and environmental stewardship from Pointe-Au-Chien Tribe members. They’ll also visit the tribe’s garden for inspiration. Next spring, students will draw garden plans and their artwork will be displayed at the school.
This project is funded by the Gulf of Mexico Alliance as part of our Gulf Star Program and builds on our long-standing relationship with the Pointe-Au-Chien Tribe.
