After long taking a back seat to glamorous Dallas, hip Austin and cultural San Antonio, Houston is FINALLY getting its just reward. In a recent online post, GQ journalist Brett Martin extols the city’s culinary virtues as well as its diversity and grit.

“In its youthfulness, its diversity (by some measures, the most diverse large city in America), and its explosive growth (an astonishing two decades of 25 percent in the greater metro area), Houston was looking more and more like the American city of the future,” Martin wrote. “Houston’s energy allows cultures to clash, cohabitate, and collaborate.”

We smile.
