Pass the popcorn

Isn’t it time Houston was the backdrop for another classic or cult hit along the lines of “Terms of Endearment” or “Rushmore?” We’ve hosted the embarrassing-to-admit good like “Urban Cowboy” to the plain-old embarrassing like “The Chase.”

With all of our distinct pockets, we can pass for just about anywhere or anytime, from suburban Virginia in “Arlington Road” to a desolate future in “RoboCop 2.” We surely have just as many palm trees in our strip centers as L.A. But, we’re also great just being ourselves in films like “Reality Bites” and “Boyhood.” Bring it, Hollywood.
